# Receiving Mentor Feedback

> How mentors provide feedback on your trading journal

One of the most valuable aspects of mentorship is receiving direct feedback on your journal entries. Your mentor can add comments to any entry, creating a dialogue about your trading.

## How Comments Work

When your mentor reviews your journal:

1. They read your entry (market analysis, trade reasoning, emotional state)
2. They click **Add Comment** on the entry
3. They write their feedback using the rich text editor
4. You receive a notification that feedback is available

## Viewing Mentor Comments

Comments appear directly below each journal entry:

* **Mentor comments** are visually distinct (highlighted border)
* **Your replies** appear nested under mentor comments
* **Timestamps** show when each comment was added

## Replying to Feedback

You can reply to any mentor comment:

1. Click **Reply** under the mentor's comment
2. Write your response
3. Click **Post Reply**

This creates a threaded conversation on each journal entry, making it easy to discuss specific trades or patterns.

## Types of Mentor Feedback

Effective mentors typically comment on:

## Best Practices for Mentees

| Do | Don't |
| ------------------------------ | -------------------------------- |
| Write detailed journal entries | Write one-line summaries |
| Include screenshots of charts | Assume mentor knows the context |
| Be honest about emotions | Hide mistakes or losses |
| Ask for specific feedback | Expect mentor to do all the work |
| Respond to comments | Ignore feedback |
